Crochet Bag Tutorial: Mini Crocodile Stitch Bag (2024)

Hello everyone, how’s everybody doing? I’m still here and going strong on fresh crochet projects for us every week, including this how to crochet a bag project!

This week’s project is an intermediate crochet bag using a crocodile stitch. I wanted to show how to crochet a bag pattern that was fairly simple to make with a modern, unique look.

It turned out really cute, and it’s very handy for everyday use. It’s a little bit of work, but nothing you can’t handle. Especially with a free written pattern and step by step video tutorial. You can do it!

Drawstring/Strap

For the drawstring strap, we’ll make our shoulder strap by making our desired length x two.For example, if I want my strap to be 30″,I’ll make my strap chains to 60″ end to end.

Make the ch until it reach about 60 inches, Turn, 1 sl st into the back bump of the second ch from the hook, 1 sl st into the back bump of each ch across, cut the yarn and leave about 8″ long tail.

Adding the drawstring strap into the crochet bag

Thread the drawstring into the bag at the first ch 1 sp in round 27 and continue counter clockwise around the bag. Weave the drawstring through each loop all the way around the bag and then weave the end of the drawstring together ( Check picture below )
