The avocado trend came from almost nowhere five years ago. One day they were languishing in the bottom of the supermarket chiller, the next they were on toast, Instagram and top of all our meal choice lists. Why? It’s hard to say. Yes, they taste good – almost milky, and soft and supple, like nectar of the Gods. And yes, they take other, bigger flavours well, like lime and chilli and salmon and eggs and even lamb and chocolate. And of course, they look pretty when photographed for social media.
So it seems our love for the green stuff no bounds, which is why we’ve collated this list of our favourite easy avocado recipes. Breakfast, dinner and everything in between (that’s brunch, lunch, and even snack o’clock), we’ve got ways to shoehorn in an avo.
It's a traumatic day when we wake up for Sunday brunch only to realise we've run out of avocados. The same goes for 4pm snack times. But panic no more. Our love for the humble avocado will never die.
